The text of an x-ray report (the interpreting physician’s impression or summary of the results) can be viewed but actual x-ray images are not displayed in MyChart. Imaging results are released to MyChart 5 days after becoming “final”.

What new radiographic studies can patients now see on MyChart?
This month, UCSF Medical Center announced that patients can now see radiographic studies including X-rays, MRIs, CT scans and some ultrasounds on MyChart. Such a move is an additional step towards transparency and will allow patients to read reports and see images.
What is the best way to view your MyChart test results?
In MyChart, go to Test results. Your provider may send you a message if they want to share their comments about test results with you. Some test results may not be viewable with the mobile app. Previously, test results were released within five business days.
Who can access my MyChart account?
No one else can access your myChart account. However, your provider and care team can see your health information through the electronic medical record maintained at the clinic and/or hospital so that they can care for you.
Where can I find the text portion of a radiology imaging report?
The text portion of your of a radiology imaging report can be viewed in the Test Results section of MyChart. The actual radiology images are not transmitted through MyChart at this time. You can obtain copies of radiology images (X-Rays or CT Scans for example) by contacting the Department of Radiology at 216.444.6651.

How do you share your medical images?
CD or flash drives usually have programs on them that allow you to view the images. You can also use them to transfer your images to the computer system the radiologist uses to read your radiology test. Some facilities and hospitals can now transfer your images to another facility using the Internet. You should still obtain a “hard copy” via a CD or flash drive just to be safe.
What are the different types of PHRs?
There are two types of PHRs: 1 Standalone PHR – This is created by the patient and stored on their own computers or the Internet. 2 Tethered or Connected PHR – This is linked to your electronic health record (EHR) at a specific hospital or health plan and accessed by you using a secure website.

Compare new images with previous medical images (this is especially important for the radiologist interpreting your radiology test) Being able to review your medical images with your physician during medical appointments may help you better understand your condition and participate in your care.
